Westwood Plateau

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Westwood Plateau is a neighbourhood within Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Transportation

Westwood Plateau is very car friendly. It is very easy to find a place to park. However, this part of the city is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, residents are served by a few bus lines, and most houses are near a bus stop. It is challenging for pedestrians to get around in this part of the city because very few day-to-day needs can be carried out without having to use a car. Biking is also difficult in Westwood Plateau since the cycling infrastructure is rather limited, and cyclists are faced with a significant amount of hills.

Services

Parents and their kids will appreciate the proximity to primary schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from the majority of homes for sale in this part of the city. However, families may find it difficult for their children to reach high schools on foot. With respect to eating, some, but not all, property owners in Westwood Plateau will reside within walking distance of the nearest supermarket. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well.

Character

Westwood Plateau offers a relaxed environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are about 20 public green spaces nearby for residents to discover, making them easy to reach. The noise levels in this part of the city are also very low, as the streets are very tranquil.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about one third of dwellings in Westwood Plateau, but large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Most housing in this area was built between 1990 and 2000, during its biggest construction boom. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood and 15% are rented.
