River Heights

River Heights is a neighbourhood within Coquitlam, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.


Driving is usually the favoured method to get around in River Heights. It is very easy to access a parking spot, and most homes for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, this part of the city is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. River Heights is not especially bike-friendly as there is a significant amount of hills. Nonetheless, the bicycling network is reasonably well-developed. It is also challenging for pedestrians to get around in River Heights as most daily needs are sometimes difficult to meet on foot.


There are only a limited number of primary schools in this part of Coquitlam and accordingly they can be a long walk away. Moreover, River Heights does not contain any high schools. Additionally, daycares are not very numerous and accordingly tend to require a long walk to get to. As far as eating is concerned, accessing the nearest supermarket on foot is an option for some, but not all, house buyers in River Heights.


Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere will enjoy River Heights. This neighbourhood is reasonably quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially around the railway line or Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, parks are very well-distributed and there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to visit, which makes it very easy to access them.


The predominant housing types in River Heights are single detached homes and row houses. This part of the city also has a selection of unit sizes; notably, this area is good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. This neighbourhood experienced its main building boom between 1980 and 1990, so most of the available properties are from this time period.
