The neighbourhood of St. James Town can be found in the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.


No matter the medium of transportation, it is very simple to get around in this part of the city. Most homes for sale in this part of the city are located in places that are very well-suited for those who travel by foot; meeting daily needs is very convenient, and various businesses are very close by. Many residents in the area use their bicycle as St. James Town features an excellent cycling infrastructure, and bike-share stations are rarely more than a short walk away. Owing to Sherbourne Station with access to the Bloor - Danforth Line, and a few nearby bus lines, the great public transit infrastructure makes transit a viable option for many people. St. James Town is also a fairly good part of Toronto for getting around by car. Many real estate listings are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway.


Daycares and schools are especially convenient to get to on foot from any location in St. James Town. Howard Street is among the most lively streets in this part of Toronto. St. James Town is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. There is a fair amount of greenery in this neighbourhood; there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to explore and they are especially well-spread out, which results in them being very easy to access from the majority of locations in this neighbourhood. In addition, residents will find that there are numerous tree-lined streets.


The predominance of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of St. James Town is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood is especially good for those looking for one bedroom homes. Nearly all of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and owners occupy the remainder. This neighbourhood experienced its largest building boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing is from this era.
