Transportation

Northward is very car friendly. The majority of real estate listings are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 7, and it is very convenient to park. On the other hand, public transit users may have limited options in Northward by reason of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. The bike is a fairly poor method of transportation in Northward because bicycle riders encounter a significant amount of slopes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive. There also aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of this part of the city, even though many daily errands can be run without having to use a vehicle.

Services

A fraction of property owners in Northward may be able to access the nearest supermarket on foot, while others will have to rely on a vehicle. However, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and a limited variety of coffee shops is available as well. In terms of education, it is a reasonably short walk to access primary schools from anywhere in this area. On the other hand, Northward does not have any high schools.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Northward. Public green spaces, such as Springwood Park, are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes them easy to get to. Lastly, as there are few pedestrians, this part of the city is relatively quiet; however those who are around Highway 85 or the railway line may experience more noise.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in Northward, but large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. A majority of the housing growth in this area happened before the 1960s.
