Situated within the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area, Northward is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario.


It is easy for people walking to navigate this neighbourhood; meeting day-to-day needs is convenient. In contrast, biking is challenging in this neighbourhood because there is a significant amount of elevation changes, and the cycling infrastructure is rather poor. Getting around by public transit is occasionally difficult in this part of Kitchener. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close. However, this neighbourhood is an extraordinarily good part of Kitchener for moving around by car. It is especially convenient to find a place to park, and it is a very short drive to the closest highway, such as Highway 7, from any home in this area.


Both primary and secondary schools are convenient to get to on foot from most houses for sale in Northward. However, there are only a few daycares and thus they can be a long walk away. With regards to food, it is often feasible for home buyers in this part of the city to do grocery shopping on foot. Likewise, a restaurant is often just around the corner.


Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Northward. Public green spaces, like Springwood Park, are especially well-situated and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, which results in them being very easy to access from the majority of locations in this part of the city. Finally, as there are few people out and about on the streets, this neighbourhood remains relatively quiet, although those who are around the railway line or Highway 85 may experience more noise.


In Northward, many buildings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. This area also has a good selection of unit sizes; properties range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. There are equal parts owners and renters living in this neighbourhood. Most homes in this part of Kitchener were constructed before the 1960s, during its largest construction boom.
