Ancaster

The former municipality of Ancaster is part of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured means of transportation in Ancaster is very often driving. It is especially convenient to access a parking spot, and nearby highways, such as Lincoln M Alexander Parkway, are easy to drive to from any home in this former municipality. On the other hand, Ancaster is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the former municipality is linked by a few bus lines. Walking is not very feasible for house buyers in this part of the city as many daily needs are inconvenient to carry out without the use of a vehicle. Biking is also difficult in Ancaster because the bicycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and there is a considerable amount of slopes.

Services

Property owners in Ancaster typically have to use a car to travel to the nearest supermarket. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity. When it comes to education, it can be difficult to walk to high schools and primary schools from properties for sale in Ancaster. In addition, families may find it challenging for their children to access daycares as a pedestrian.

Character

Ancaster is reasonably good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier areas, especially closer to the airport (YHM), the railway line, Lincoln M Alexander Parkway or Highway 403. It is occasionally challenging to reach parks since they are spread out sporadically. Still, there are approximately 40 green spaces nearby for residents to explore.

Housing

In Ancaster, around three quarters of dwellings are single detached homes, while townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Around one third of properties in this former municipality were built after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the population of this former municipality own their home whereas the rest are renters.
