The former municipality of Glanbrook is part of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Glanbrook is an extremely convenient part of Hamilton for moving around by car. Parking is quite easy. Walking is not very feasible for property owners in this area because almost no daily needs can be met without having to resort to a vehicle. Biking is also difficult in Glanbrook as the topography is not especially flat, and the cycling infrastructure is fairly poor.

Families may consider it very difficult for their kids to access high schools and primary schools as pedestrians. Furthermore, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long walk away. Concerning eating, a vehicle is almost always needed in this part of Hamilton to access the nearest grocery store. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity.

Glanbrook is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some areas can be quite loud, especially near the airport (YHM). Green spaces are sparse, which makes it rather challenging to reach them. Despite that, there are about 20 parks close by for residents to relax in.

The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Glanbrook is an important part of its character. This part of the city offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 95% of the dwellings in the former municipality are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. Most homes in this part of Hamilton were constructed after the year 2000, during its main construction boom.
