Commerce Valley

The neighbourhood of Commerce Valley can be found in the city of Markham, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Commerce Valley will attract home buyers that use several modes of transportation. Thanks to a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Viva Purple, and around 10 nearby bus lines, this area features fairly good transit access. Commerce Valley will also draw people who want to reside in an area that's walkable since it is moderately walking-friendly; many common errands can be run without a vehicle, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. This part of Markham is amenable to bicycling since the cycling network is moderately well-developed.

Services

Schools and daycares are convenient to reach without a vehicle from most houses for sale in Commerce Valley. With regards to eating, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a reasonably short stroll away in this area. Moreover, Commerce Valley is a good place in which to go out to eat or go to a cafe. It is also convenient to reach a selection of clothing stores as a pedestrian.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Commerce Valley, as well as some areas with a vibrant ambience. Green spaces, like Bayview Reservoir Park and Huntington Park, are especially well-distributed and there are around 20 of them close by for residents to visit, making them easy to reach from many locations within this neighbourhood. Since there are few pedestrians, this area remains relatively quiet; however noise levels are higher closer to Highway 407 or Highway 404.

Housing

Large apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing about three quarters of buildings in Commerce Valley, and the remaining dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of Markham offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 70% of the dwellings in Commerce Valley while the remainder are rented. Most of the housing growth in this area has occurred after the year 2000.
