The neighbourhood of Downtown Peninsula is part of the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area.

Downtown Peninsula is an excellent area when it comes to getting around without a car. Active property owners will be pleased with the very walk-friendly nature of Downtown Peninsula; all daily needs can be met by walking, and a variety of businesses are very nearby. Cycling is also easy in Downtown Peninsula since the bicycling infrastructure is very good. Owing to various nearby rapid transit stations on the Expo Skytrain and Canada Line Skytrain, and around 40 nearby bus lines, this part of Vancouver is especially transit friendly. However, Downtown Peninsula is not very car friendly because finding a parking spot is not very easy, and many houses for sale are a very long car ride from the nearest highway.

It is very easy to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from any location in this neighbourhood. Moreover, with 800-odd restaurants and cafes in Downtown Peninsula, there is almost always a spot to get some food or drink just around the corner. It is also especially convenient to access a variety of clothing stores on foot, for instance along Pender Street. Concerning education, daycares and schools are convenient to walk to from most homes for sale in Downtown Peninsula. Apart from public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools.

Downtown Peninsula is a great neighbourhood for those who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. There are many dynamic parts in this area to discover. A vast selection of entertainment venues can be found nearby, there are a very large number of people around most of the time, and finding one of the over 50 bars is very easy since they are generally situated in especially convenient locations. Granville Street in particular offers a good selection of nightlife. There are around 30 parks close by for residents to unwind in, making it very easy to reach them.

Roughly two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas owners occupy the remainder. The sizeable proportion of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this part of Vancouver is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new dwellings in this neighbourhood was spread throughout several decades in recent history. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes.
