Situated within the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Mahon is a neighbourhood in City of North Vancouver, British Columbia.


Travelling on foot is practical for home buyers in this neighbourhood; many daily errands can be run on foot, and there are also a good number of businesses nearby. In contrast, Mahon is not very bike-friendly as the cycling network is not especially comprehensive, and bicycling is made arduous by the often hilly topography. Nonetheless, riding a bike is more practical in some pockets than others. Commuting by transit can be at times difficult in Mahon by reason of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. However, Mahon is a very good part of City of North Vancouver for driving. Nearby highways, such as Trans-Canada Highway, are very easy to access from any home in Mahon, and it is convenient to park.


It is very easy to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from most properties for sale in this neighbourhood. Moreover, Mahon is a good place in which to go out to eat. Residents have access to a good number of clothing stores within walking distance. Concerning education, parents and their kids will value that wherever their home is located in Mahon, daycares and schools are close by.


Mahon offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. The noise levels in this neighbourhood are quite low, as the streets are generally peaceful. Finally, parks are very easy to access since there are a few of them close by for residents to visit.


Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly one third of dwellings in Mahon, whereas the rest are mainly small apartment buildings and duplexes. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
