Fairview

The neighbourhood of Fairview is part of the city of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Fairview is rather suitable for pedestrians; most day-to-day needs are convenient to carry out without a car. This area is also fairly suited for cycling as there are a good number of bike lanes, and it is an even ride to most destinations. The favoured way to move around in Fairview is very often driving. Finding a parking spot is generally easy, and most houses for sale are a short car ride from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc. In contrast, the public transit access in this part of Pointe-Claire is not particularly practical. Nevertheless, there are about 20 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties.

Services

In Fairview, families will typically be able to get to daycares and high schools by walking. On the other hand, this neighbourhood does not have any primary schools. With respect to food, house buyers in Fairview will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a short walk away. Likewise, there is typically a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. It is also convenient to get to a selection of clothing stores without a vehicle.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Fairview. To be more precise, there are approximately 40 parks nearby for residents to check out, including Parc Lake Road and Parc du Centenaire, and they are especially well-situated, making them easy to get to. Despite the abundance of public green spaces, a large number of streets have sub-par tree coverage. Finally, due to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, this neighbourhood is relatively quiet; however noise levels are higher closer to the railway line or Autoroute Félix-Leclerc.

Housing

About 40% of homes in Fairview were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s. In this area, about half of dwellings are single detached homes, and the remaining dwellings are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. About 80% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented. This part of Pointe-Claire offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
