Moving around by car is very convenient in Valois. The neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually around the corner. Many of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in places that are not very well-suited for those who travel as pedestrians since common errands are at times difficult to run without the need to get in a vehicle. Even though cyclists do not encounter significant slopes, cycling is also occasionally difficult in Valois because there are a limited number of bike lanes.

It is sometimes possible for property owners in Valois to access the closest supermarket as pedestrians. Nevertheless, it is generally a short walk to the nearest pharmacy, which can provide some staple foods. Valois is a fairly good place in which to eat out, and a limited variety of cafes is available as well. It is also convenient to reach a selection of clothing stores as a pedestrian. With respect to education, in Valois, parents and their children will generally be able to get to daycares and primary schools as pedestrians. However, high schools are not particularly numerous and therefore not always within a short distance.

Valois has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. Although this neighbourhood is not known for its lively atmosphere, with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located around the corner. Valois is quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue, although that is not the case near one of the railway lines or Autoroute du Souvenir. The greenery in this part of the city is prominent as the tree canopy coverage for most streets is good. It is easy to get to public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are around 30 of them close by for residents to explore.

Homeowners occupy roughly all of the units in Valois while the rest are rented. In this neighbourhood, the vast majority of buildings are single detached homes, and the rest of the houses are mainly townhouses. Roughly half of properties in this area were built prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This neighbourhood is especially good for those looking for three bedroom homes.
