West Humber

West Humber is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Cars are an excellent transportation option in this part of the city. Many properties for sale are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 401, and it is very convenient to come across a place to park. Homeowners can also count on public transit to move around in West Humber by reason of Etobicoke North Station on the Kitchener Line, and about 10 nearby bus lines. West Humber is not very amenable to cycling as there are very few bike lanes, and there is a considerable amount of hills. Most homes for sale in this area are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for walking as most daily needs are at times difficult to meet without having to resort to a vehicle.

Parents and their children may find it difficult to reach high schools and primary schools on foot. Furthermore, it can be very difficult to get to daycares as a pedestrian. In terms of food, a portion of house buyers in this neighbourhood may be able to travel to the closest grocery store on foot, while others will have to turn to a vehicle. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well.

A highlight of West Humber is its wide selection of green spaces. More specifically, there are approximately 20 parks nearby for residents to unwind in, including Disco Yard and Etobicoke Hydro Green Space, making them very easy to access from many locations within this part of Toronto. At the same time, the majority of streets have fairly bad tree coverage. This neighbourhood remains relatively quiet, due to the presence of very few pedestrians.

West Humber did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new buildings in this neighbourhood was spread throughout multiple decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century. In this part of the city, many dwellings are single detached homes, while duplexes and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the units in West Humber and 15% are rented. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
