Little Italy

Little Italy is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of the city does not demand use of a car as various other means of transportation are available. The transit access in Little Italy is very good. It is easy to find a nearby rapid transit station, including Ossington Station - Eastbound Platform and Ossington Station - Westbound Platform on the Line 2 (Bloor - Danforth), from the greater part of houses in the neighbourhood. Residents are served by around 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically very close by. This area will also draw people who want to be in a walkable community because it is especially pedestrian-friendly; meeting daily needs is especially convenient without a car, and there are also innumerable businesses in proximity. This area will attract physically active people because it is very suited for bicycling. More precisely, the cycling infrastructure is comprehensive, there is usually a bike-share station in proximity, and the topography is moderately flat.

Services

Both general and specialty grocery stores are ordinarily accessible within a very short walk from any location in Little Italy. Furthermore, thanks to 350-odd restaurants and cafes in this area, there is almost always a spot to get some food or drink just around the corner. An excellent choice of clothing stores is also situated within a very short walking distance, for instance on College Street. In terms of education, schools and daycares are straightforward to get to by foot from most homes for sale in Little Italy.

Character

Little Italy is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of Toronto. Most areas in Little Italy are quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Greenery is not especially present in this part of the city; more specifically, residents will find that there are few tree-lined streets. Nonetheless, getting to green spaces in the neighbourhood, including Trinity Bellwoods Park, is very easy since there are over 50 of them close by for residents to enjoy. Finally, there are numerous things to do in this part of the city to visit. There are a very large number of people around most of the time, there are many nearby entertainment venues, and with its about 40 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. College Street is among the most energetic streets in this part of Toronto.

Housing

In Little Italy, roughly half of buildings are small apartment buildings, and the rest of the properties are mainly townhouses. A majority of the housing growth in this area happened prior to the 1960s. This neighbourhood also has a good variety of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The split between homeowners and renters is about even.
