The neighbourhood of Garden District can be found in the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.


Garden District does not require use of a car since various other methods of transportation are available. The public transit network in this area is excellent owing to Queen Station with access to the Yonge - University Line, and a few nearby bus lines. Physically active people will also value the very walk-friendly nature of Garden District; all common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle, and various businesses are very close by. A fair number of residents in the area use their bicycle because bike-share stations are rarely more than a few blocks away, and the bicycling network is extensive.


In this part of the city, families will almost always be able to get to schools and daycares on foot. Concerning food, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away in Garden District. Likewise, those who are fond of eating out won't have to go far in this neighbourhood, where approximately 40 restaurants and a few cafes can be found, for example along Queen Street. Residents benefit from a very large number of nearby clothing stores.


Garden District is a great neighbourhood for those who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Finding things to do is very easy in this part of Toronto. There is a vast selection of entertainment venues, the streets are almost always busy with people, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located around the corner. There is not that much greenery in this part of Toronto; to be more specific, residents will find that few tree-lined streets are prominent. However, parks, such as Allan Gardens, are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes them very easy to reach from a lot of locations within the neighbourhood.


In Garden District, almost all buildings are large apartment buildings, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of Toronto is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. About 70% of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home and 30% are owners. About 40% of homes in this part of Toronto were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
