The former municipality of Etobicoke can be found in the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.


Etobicoke provides homeowners with several alternative methods of transportation. This part of Toronto is reasonably transit friendly due to a multitude of rapid transit stations on the 109 | Meadowvale Express and Bloor - Danforth Line, and over 50 nearby bus lines. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are also conducive to those who travel by foot; many day-to-day errands can be run without having to use a vehicle. Etobicoke is not particularly appropriate for biking because bicycling is made arduous by the typically hilly area, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed.


It is often possible for home buyers in Etobicoke to buy their groceries on foot. In addition, this part of Toronto is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, and a limited number of cafes can be found as well. With respect to education, schools and daycares are easy to get to on foot from most houses for sale in Etobicoke.


The character of Etobicoke is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. This part of Toronto is reasonably quiet, as the streets are calm - although there are still several louder sections, especially near Highway 407, Highway 409, one of the railway lines or the airport (YYZ). Lastly, there is a good amount of greenery in this former municipality as the tree canopy coverage for most streets is good. It is very easy to access public green spaces in the former municipality, since there are over 350 of them close by for residents to relax in, such as Islington Golf Club and Scarlett Mills Park.


In Etobicoke, about 40% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, and the rest of the properties are mainly single detached homes. This area also has a good selection of unit sizes; houses range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 60% of the dwellings in the former municipality are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. Roughly one third of properties in this former municipality were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
