Transportation

Alderwood provides homeowners with the choice between a diversity of modes of transportation. The public transit network in Alderwood is good as a consequence of a few nearby bus lines. Most houses for sale in this part of Toronto are located in places that are also conducive to walking; carrying out day-to-day needs is convenient. Alderwood is not especially bike-friendly as the cycling network is fairly poor, and there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave.

Services

The closest supermarket in Alderwood is usually only a short walk away. Moreover, there is often a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. As far as education is concerned, in Alderwood, parents and their kids will usually be able to get to daycares and primary schools by walking. In contrast, high schools are not very numerous and consequently not always within walking distance.

Character

Alderwood is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. Greenery is reasonably prominent in this part of Toronto as the majority of streets have good tree coverage. Public green spaces, including Etobicoke Valley Park and Connorvale Park, are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them nearby for residents to explore, which makes them easy to reach from many locations within Alderwood. This neighbourhood is reasonably quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier areas, especially close to one of the railway lines, Highway 427 or Queen Elizabeth Way.

Housing

Most of the housing growth in Alderwood happened prior to the 1960s. In this neighbourhood, most buildings are single detached homes, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. Around 80% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
