Corkery

Corkery is a neighbourhood in Ottawa, Ontario.

Transportation

The best approach to move around in this neighbourhood is very often a car. It is very easy to find a parking spot. Walking is not very feasible for home buyers in this neighbourhood since most daily needs are very challenging to carry out without having to use a car. Commuting by bicycle is also difficult in Corkery because there are very few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of slopes.

Services

A vehicle is almost always needed in this part of the city to access the nearest supermarket. In terms of education, there are only a very small number of primary schools in this neighbourhood and therefore they can be a very long walk away. Moreover, Corkery does not have any high schools.

Character

Corkery is fairly good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case close to Highway 7 or Highway 417. Reaching green spaces, including Rick Lytle Park, is very hard from most locations within the neighbourhood since they are spread out sporadically. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

About one third of homes in Corkery were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this area. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the units in Corkery and 10% are occupied by renters. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
