Transportation

Carlington allows home buyers to move around using different means of transportation. Carlington features a good public transit system. More precisely, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. Active property owners will also enjoy the reasonably pedestrian-friendly character of Carlington; meeting daily needs is convenient by walking. This area is quite amenable to cycling since the bicycling infrastructure is reasonably well-developed.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to reach daycares and schools from anywhere in this neighbourhood. Parents are served by public and private elementary schools. With respect to eating, it is very easy to access the closest supermarket by walking from any location in this neighbourhood. Likewise, there are a good number of opportunities for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also easy to get to a number of clothing stores on foot.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere will enjoy Carlington. Most areas in this part of Ottawa are quiet, as the streets are reasonably tranquil - although that is not the case closer to Highway 417. Finally, accessing green spaces, such as Carlington Park, is easy from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 30% of buildings in Carlington, while large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses are the main alternatives in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas the rest are occupied by owners. About 45% of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s.
