La Salle

The neighbourhood of La Salle is part of the city of Burlington, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great means of transportation in La Salle. Parking is easy, and many real estate listings are a short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 407. However, public transit users may find limited options in this area as a result of the low service level. Thankfully, residents are served by the Aldershot on the Lakeshore West. There are approximately 10 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and it is very convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most properties. Despite the fact that some pleasant sectors for bicycling exist, travelling by bicycle is sometimes difficult in this area because the terrain is not particularly flat, and the cycling infrastructure is rather limited. Getting around on foot in La Salle is also not very common, even though most daily needs are convenient to carry out without the use of a car.

Services

It is a short stroll to get to primary schools and daycares from anywhere in La Salle. In contrast, there are only a few high schools and therefore they can be an extended walk away. As far as food is concerned, the closest grocery store in La Salle is generally only a rather long walk away. Moreover, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a fair number of opportunities, and property owners are served by a few cafes as well. It is also a rather short stroll to a decent choice of clothing stores.

Character

The character of La Salle is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. Green spaces, like Spencer Smith Park and Maple Park, are very well-situated and there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to unwind in, which makes them easy to reach. This part of Burlington is also very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

In La Salle, many dwellings are single detached homes, but large apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About one third of properties in this part of the city were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s. This area has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy around two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood and one third are rented.
