The community of Irishvale is part of the municipality of Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Cape Breton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in Irishvale. Coming across a parking spot is easy. Irishvale is not very appropriate for bicycling as there are a fair number of hills, and the cycling network is quite bad. Walking is also not very practical for residents in this area as almost no daily errands can be run without needing to get in a car.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to shop for groceries. As far as education is concerned, there are no high schools and no primary schools in Irishvale. In addition, daycares are not abundant and consequently tend to require a very long trip to get to.

Character

The character of Irishvale is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. Although the community is not home to any parks, green spaces are situated sporadically in nearby communities, making it very easy to get to them. This part of the municipality is also fairly good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there are low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Roughly 90% of the units in the community are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this area. About 30% of properties in this community were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
