The neighbourhood of Island Lakes is part of the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is located in the Greater Winnipeg metropolitan area.

In contrast, residents using public transit may find limited options in this area due to the infrequent service. Island Lakes is not very well-suited for those who travel by foot because very few daily needs can be met by walking.
