The neighbourhood of East Richmond can be found in the city of Richmond, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.


This area is very car friendly. It is very convenient to park, and many properties for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 99. In contrast, the public transit service in this part of Richmond is not very frequent. Nonetheless, property owners benefit from approximately 10 bus lines, and most homes are near a bus stop. This part of the city is not very suitable for walking because meeting day-to-day needs is impractical on foot. East Richmond is also not very bicycling-friendly as there is a significant amount of hills, and the cycling infrastructure is quite bad.


Getting to the nearest grocery store by walking is feasible for some, but not all, property owners in East Richmond. A small selection of restaurants is available in this area as well. When it comes to education, families may find it challenging to reach high schools and primary schools on foot. In addition, daycares are not especially abundant and accordingly tend to require a long walk to get to. There are highly ranked elementary and high schools, including Richmond Christian School, in this area.


There is a great variety of green spaces in East Richmond. There are about 20 parks nearby for residents to relax in, which makes them easy to reach. Finally, due to the presence of very few people out and about on the streets, this area remains relatively quiet.


Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing roughly 55% of dwellings in East Richmond, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. This part of the city offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 70% of the dwellings in East Richmond and 30% are rented. About one third of homes in this part of the city were constructed following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
