Kirkstone

Located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Kirkstone is a neighbourhood within District of North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Kirkstone is fairly conducive to people who like to travel by foot; many day-to-day needs are convenient to meet without a car. Bicycling is also convenient in this part of the municipality because there are a good number of bike lanes. Cars are a very good mode of transportation in Kirkstone. Most real estate listings are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is easy to find a place to park. In contrast, Kirkstone is not particularly transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most residences.

Services

It is a very short walk to reach schools and daycares from most houses for sale in Kirkstone. In terms of food, it is often an option for home buyers in this area to do groceries by foot. In addition, Kirkstone is a fairly good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe.

Character

The character of Kirkstone is exemplified by its calm environment. This part of District of North Vancouver is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially around Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, it is very easy to access public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

In Kirkstone, around 30% of buildings are small apartment buildings, while the rest are mainly large apartment buildings and single detached homes. About 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 2000s. This area also has a good variety of housing sizes - it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the rest are renters.
