The neighbourhood of Long Lake-Linley Valley is part of the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia, which is located in the Greater Nanaimo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great means of transportation in Long Lake-Linley Valley. It is very convenient to find a parking spot, and it is a rather short drive to the closest highway from anywhere in this part of Nanaimo. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be challenging in this part of the city as a result of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most houses. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of the city are located in places that are not particularly suitable for people who get around as pedestrians as few daily errands can be run without a vehicle. The bicycle is a somewhat poor method of transportation in Long Lake-Linley Valley because there are quite a few elevation changes, and the cycling network is not especially comprehensive.

Services

It is a rather short walk to access primary schools and daycares from most homes for sale in this neighbourhood. However, there are only a limited number of high schools and accordingly they can be an extended trip away. As far as food is concerned, it is frequently practical for home buyers in this part of Nanaimo to buy groceries by foot. Moreover, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and residents can enjoy a few cafes as well. It is also a reasonably short stroll to a decent selection of clothing stores.

Character

Long Lake-Linley Valley is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. The noise levels in this part of the city are very low, as the streets are usually very tranquil. Lastly, accessing green spaces in the neighbourhood, like Linley Valley Cottle Lake Park and Lost Lake Trail, is easy since there are over 100 of them nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

The homes in this neighbourhood are relatively new, since around 30% of its buildings were built following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this part of the city, roughly 60% of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings and duplexes are the main alternatives in the housing stock. About 70% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. This part of Nanaimo is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
