Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Maplewood is a neighbourhood within District of North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. Most properties for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and parking is generally easy. In contrast, the public transit network in Maplewood is not particularly practical. Nonetheless, homeowners benefit from a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically just around the corner. Walking in this part of the municipality is not very common, despite the fact that many daily needs can be met without having to use a car. This part of District of North Vancouver is also not very cycling-friendly as there are very few bike lanes, and bicycling is made difficult by the often hilly topography.

Services

In the majority of cases, a vehicle is required in this neighbourhood to access the nearest grocery store. On the other hand, a cafe is commonly just around the corner, and there are a limited number of options for those who care about restaurants in close proximity. Concerning education, parents and their children will welcome that no matter where their property is located in this part of the municipality, daycares and schools are close by.

Character

One of the highlights of Maplewood is its wide selection of green spaces. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to relax in, including Maplewood Conservation and Windridge Park, and they are very well-distributed, which makes them very easy to access. Finally, this part of the municipality is relatively quiet, thanks to the presence of very few pedestrians.

Housing

Townhouses are the most common housing type, representing around half of dwellings in Maplewood, and the rest of the properties are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and single detached homes. This neighbourhood has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The population residing in this part of the municipality is evenly split between renters and owners. Around 40% of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 2000s.
