Transportation

West Central Valley permits home buyers to travel by a diversity of modes of transportation. Thanks to 2 rapid transit stations (Gilmore Station and Brentwood Town Centre Station) on the Millennium Skytrain, and approximately 10 nearby bus lines, the reasonably good public transit access makes transit a viable option for many. Travelling on foot is also practical for residents in West Central Valley; meeting daily needs is convenient by walking. The bicycle is a fairly poor method of transportation in this neighbourhood as bicycling is made difficult by the often steep topography, and there are very few bike lanes.

A supermarket is typically accessible within a short walk from most houses for sale in West Central Valley. Additionally, West Central Valley is a good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe. A decent choice of clothing stores is also available within a rather short walking distance. Concerning education, families will value that wherever their property is situated in this area, daycares and primary schools are nearby. However, West Central Valley does not contain any high schools.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in West Central Valley. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to unwind in, resulting in them being very easy to reach from many locations within this part of the city. Due to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, this neighbourhood is relatively quiet, although noise levels are higher closer to the railway line or Trans-Canada Highway.

Housing

About 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder. The sizeable percentage of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this part of Burnaby is an important part of its character. This area experienced its most significant construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period. This neighbourhood offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
