Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Cascade-Schou is a neighbourhood within Burnaby, British Columbia.

Transportation

This area permits home buyers to get around using various means of transportation. Walking is practical for residents in Cascade-Schou; running common errands is convenient, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. However, Cascade-Schou is not very cycling-friendly as there is a considerable amount of elevation changes, and the bicycling network is not especially extensive. House buyers can count on public transit to travel in this area as a consequence of a few nearby bus lines. Driving is also a very good transportation option in this part of the city. It is a short drive to the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from any home in Cascade-Schou, and it is easy to come across a parking spot.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from most properties for sale in Cascade-Schou. As far as food is concerned, it is often possible for house buyers in this part of the city to do their grocery shopping by walking. Furthermore, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. Property owners can find a fair number of nearby clothing stores.

Character

The character of Cascade-Schou is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This area is reasonably quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some parts can be quite loud, especially around Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in, including Discovery Place Conservation Area, and they are very well-situated, resulting in them being very easy to access from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood.

Housing

In Cascade-Schou, about 30% of buildings are small apartment buildings, but duplexes, single detached homes, and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood also has a good selection of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find houses ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy about two thirds of the dwellings in Cascade-Schou and the remainder are rented. Roughly one quarter of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
