Part of the Greater Calgary metropolitan area, Chinatown is a neighbourhood within Calgary, Alberta.


Chinatown offers house buyers several alternative methods of transportation. Owing to a few nearby bus lines, this area is very transit friendly. This area is also an extremely pleasant part of Calgary for pedestrians; running daily errands is very convenient by walking, and plenty of businesses are quite close by. Although cyclists do not encounter significant slopes, this neighbourhood is not very cycling-friendly as.


It is a very short walk to get to daycares and schools from most properties for sale in Chinatown. In terms of food, it is very convenient to access both a general and a specialty grocery store by walking from any home in this neighbourhood. Furthermore, owing to 30-odd restaurants and cafes in this part of Calgary, there is almost always a place to get a meal or beverage just around the corner. It is also a short walk to a very good variety of clothing stores.


Chinatown has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. Chinatown is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Parks are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to enjoy, which makes them very easy to reach from most locations in Chinatown. Lastly, there are many things to do in this area for those looking for a dynamic vibe. Even though relatively few entertainment venues can be found nearby, the streets are often busy with people, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located around the corner.


Large apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing roughly 90% of dwellings in Chinatown, and the remaining dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home whereas owners make up the remainder. About one third of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
