Maricourt

The neighbourhood of Maricourt is part of the city of Longueuil, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cycling is easy in Maricourt because it is a flat ride to most destinations, and there are a fair number of bike lanes. This neighbourhood is also moderately well-suited for those who like to travel on foot; most daily needs are convenient to carry out without the use of a vehicle. This part of the city is not especially transit friendly. Nevertheless, property owners benefit from the Gare Longueuil-Saint-Hubert on the 13 - Mont-Saint-Hilaire. There are over 50 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. However, Maricourt is very car friendly. Finding a place to park is quite easy, and most real estate listings are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway.

Services

It is generally possible for house buyers in Maricourt to shop for groceries without needing to get in a vehicle. Additionally, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and property owners can enjoy a few cafes as well. As far as education is concerned, primary schools and daycares are very easy to reach on foot from any location in this area. On the other hand, there are only a very small number of high schools and consequently they can be a very long stroll away.

Character

Maricourt offers a calm ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This area features not that much greenery; to be more precise, residents will find that there are few tree-lined streets. However, most locations within the neighbourhood have fairly good access to public green spaces, like Centennial Park and Parc Pierre-Laporte, since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to unwind in. This part of Longueuil is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several louder sections, especially around the railway line.

Housing

In Maricourt, about two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Longueuil experienced its biggest building boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available properties are from this era. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the units in Maricourt while the remainder are rented.
