The neighbourhood of Cité-du-Havre is part of the city of Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cité-du-Havre will please home buyers that use several means of transportation. The very good transit service makes transit a viable option for many. For example, commuters can count on Place-d'Armes Station on the Ligne 2 - Orange. The closest train station, such as the Paco, Wellington and Bridge Nord with access to the 15 - Mascouche, is commonly around the corner from most houses in the neighbourhood. Property owners have access to about 30 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally around the corner. Cité-du-Havre will also draw home buyers who want to live in a compact community because it is reasonably suitable for getting around on foot; all daily errands can be run without a vehicle, and many businesses are fairly close at hand. Despite the fact that riding a bike is more practical in some pockets than others, the bicycling infrastructure is rather well-developed, and bicycling is moderately prevalent, this part of Montréal is not especially cycling-friendly as there are a fair number of slopes to challenge cyclists.

It is very easy to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store without the need to get in a car from anywhere in this area. In contrast, Cité-du-Havre does not contain any primary schools or high schools.

Character

Cité-du-Havre is a great neighbourhood for home buyers who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Although this area is not known for its lively atmosphere, finding one of the approximately 10 bars is easy as they are generally situated in reasonably convenient locations. On the other hand, this part of Montréal features a very small amount of greenery; although, there are around 30 green spaces nearby for residents to discover, including Vieux-Port, making them very easy to get to.

Housing

The substantial proportion of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of Cité-du-Havre is an important part of its character. This area also has quite a good variety of unit sizes; notably, this area is good for those looking for two bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are rented. This neighbourhood experienced its biggest construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available properties are from this era.
