Bienville

Part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Bienville is a neighbourhood within Longueuil, Quebec.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent medium of transportation in this part of the city. The majority of houses for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier, and it is straightforward to find a parking spot. In contrast, getting around by public transit is difficult in Bienville. Nevertheless, commuters profit from the Gare Saint-Bruno on the 13 - Mont-Saint-Hilaire. The neighbourhood is connected by approximately 20 bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Bienville is not particularly conducive to cycling as the bicycling infrastructure is somewhat poor. Nonetheless, some bicycling-friendly pockets exist, and there are a limited number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave. Bienville is also not very conducive to pedestrians as very few daily errands can be run without a car.

Services

Daycares and primary schools are straightforward to access without a car from any location in Bienville. However, Bienville does not contain any high schools. With regards to eating, purchasing one's groceries often necessitates the use of a vehicle in this area. Residents are served by about 30 restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

The character of Bienville is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. There is a small amount of greenery in this part of the city; more specifically, residents will find that there are few tree-lined streets. However, the majority of locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, including Réserve naturelle du Ruisseau-Robert, since there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to check out. This part of the city is especially quiet overall, as the streets are generally very calm - although that is not the case around Autoroute de l'Acier.

Housing

Bienville experienced its main construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period. In this neighbourhood, about half of buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 15% are renters. This area also has a good variety of unit sizes; properties range from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
