Located within the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, The Pocket is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

The Pocket enables house buyers to travel by a variety of means of transportation. Many of the homes for sale in this part of Toronto are located in areas that are very conducive to those who get around on foot; all day-to-day needs can be met without a vehicle, and there are also a fair number of businesses in proximity. The Pocket will also draw physically active home buyers as it is suited for bicycling. In particular, bike-share stations are never more than a few blocks away. Owing to various nearby rapid transit stations on the Line 2 (Bloor - Danforth), and approximately 10 nearby bus lines, commuting by public transit is very easy in The Pocket. This area is also reasonably car friendly. It is a rather short drive to the nearest highway from anywhere in this part of the city.

Services

Parents and their children will appreciate that wherever their property is located in The Pocket, daycares and schools are close by. In terms of eating, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away in this part of the city. In addition, those who are fond of dining out won't have to travel far in this area, where over 50 restaurants and a few cafes are available. Home buyers have access to many clothing stores within a short distance.

Character

No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighbourhood, The Pocket is a fairly good option. Although the ambience is not the liveliest in this part of Toronto, the vibe is still quite energetic around its busier streets, and finding one of the a few bars is very easy as they are generally situated in very convenient locations. Danforth Avenue in particular offers a wide variety of bars. The Pocket is reasonably quiet, as the streets are quite peaceful, although that is not the case near the railway line. There is a good amount of greenery in this part of Toronto; getting to public green spaces in the neighbourhood, such as Withrow Park and Greenwood Park, is very easy since there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to relax in. Residents will also find that many tree-lined streets are prominent.

Housing

In The Pocket, roughly one third of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while single detached homes and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of the city offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 30% are occupied by renters. Most of the housing growth in this area occurred pre-1960.
