Chestnut Hills

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Chestnut Hills is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

Chestnut Hills presents house buyers with several alternative methods of transportation. The public transit network in this part of the city is very convenient. House owners have access to a few bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. Chestnut Hills is also reasonably well-suited for those who travel by foot; many daily needs can be met by walking. Cycling is at times challenging in Chestnut Hills since there are a limited number of bike lanes, and cyclists are faced with quite a few elevation changes.

Services

In this part of Toronto, parents and their children will usually be able to access daycares and schools on foot. As far as food is concerned, it is very easy to reach both a general and a specialty grocery store by walking from any location in this area. In addition, there is often a restaurant or cafe in close proximity.

Character

Chestnut Hills offers a calm environment and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time in green spaces. Greenery is very present in this area as there are numerous tree-lined streets. It is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to visit. Most areas in this part of Toronto are quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case around the railway line.

Housing

Chestnut Hills experienced its biggest construction boom before the 1960s, so most of the available properties are from this era. In this neighbourhood, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the houses are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and one third are renters. This part of Toronto has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
