North Gower

The neighbourhood of North Gower is part of the city of Ottawa, Ontario, which is situated in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in North Gower. It is especially convenient to access a place to park. In contrast, North Gower is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. Most houses for sale in this area are located in places that are not very conducive to pedestrians since meeting daily needs is very impractical without a vehicle. Bicycling is also challenging in North Gower because there are a good number of hills, and this area is home to quite bad cycling infrastructure.

Services

There are no primary schools in this neighbourhood. Furthermore, there are only a few daycares and accordingly they can be a long stroll away. When it comes to food, in all cases, a car is required to buy groceries. There are also a few choices for those who care about close by restaurants.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced ambience will enjoy North Gower. This part of Ottawa is quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially near Highway 416 or the airport (Rideau Valley Air Park). Lastly, access to parks from numerous locations in the neighbourhood, like Besley Woods and W.A. Taylor Conservation Area, is easy, since there are about 40 of them nearby for residents to discover and reaching a park is very easy from most properties.

Housing

Roughly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this area. Around 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
