Island Park is a neighbourhood within Ottawa, Ontario, which is located in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

No matter the medium of transportation, it is very easy to travel in Island Park. Island Park is an extremely pleasant part of Ottawa for getting around by public transit owing to a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations on the Rapibus 800 and Pré Tunney, and over 50 nearby bus lines. Walking is also rather convenient for property owners in this area; running daily errands is easy without a vehicle, and various businesses are reasonably close by. Island Park is a very pleasant part of Ottawa for cyclists. For instance, the bicycling infrastructure is rather well-developed, and there are a limited number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists.

Services

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short walk away in this neighbourhood. Likewise, those who like to dine out won't have to walk far in Island Park, where over 50 restaurants and a few cafes can be found, for instance along Wellington Street. It is also a rather short stroll to a reasonable variety of clothing stores. Regarding education, daycares and schools are very easy to get to as a pedestrian from most homes for sale in Island Park.

Character

Island Park has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Island Park is reasonably quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic. However, it is easy to reach public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are approximately 40 of them close by for residents to explore. Lastly, even though the ambience is not the most lively in this part of Ottawa, its main streets are still quite lively, and with its about 10 bars, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located very close by.

This neighbourhood has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. A majority of the houses available in the housing market in this neighbourhood were built prior to the 1960s, when a large proportion of the housing growth occurred.
