Galetta is a neighbourhood within Ottawa, Ontario, which is located in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

Galetta is especially car friendly. Accessing a parking spot is easy. Most homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are not very well-suited for those who travel by foot as carrying out daily needs is very impractical. Galetta is also not very cycling-friendly as there are a good number of elevation changes, and there are very few bike lanes.

Services

This part of the city does not have any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, daycares are not plentiful and consequently may require a very long walk to get to. In terms of eating, property owners in Galetta almost always have to turn to a car to reach the closest supermarket.

Character

Galetta is reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some areas can be quite loud, especially near Highway 417 or one of the railway lines. Public green spaces are very hard to reach since they aren't well-distributed. Despite that, there are a few parks close by for residents to explore.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing almost all dwellings in Galetta, while mobile homes are also present in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters. About one third of properties in this part of Ottawa were built pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
