Part of the Greater Oshawa metropolitan area, Rural Area is a neighbourhood within Oshawa, Ontario.

Transportation

Rural Area is an extremely good part of Oshawa for moving around by car. It is very convenient to access a parking spot. In contrast, the public transit service in this part of Oshawa is not very frequent. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood. Rural Area is not very conducive to bicycling since the topography is not very flat, and there are very few bike lanes. This neighbourhood is also not very suitable for people who travel on foot because almost no daily needs can be met without a car.

Services

A car is usually required in Rural Area to reach the closest supermarket. A limited number of restaurants are available in this part of the city as well. With respect to education, Rural Area does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Additionally, parents may consider it challenging for their children to reach daycares as pedestrians.

Character

Rural Area is a very good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. Rural Area is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. It is occasionally challenging to get to parks within the neighbourhood since they are spread out sporadically. Still, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to visit.

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing almost all dwellings in Rural Area, whereas the remainder are mainly duplexes.
