Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, River Oaks is a neighbourhood within Oakville, Ontario.

Transportation

Driving is a reasonably good mode of transportation in River Oaks. It is convenient to park. In contrast, the public transit system in River Oaks is rather poor. Thankfully, house owners have access to a few bus lines, and it is especially convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most residences. There aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of this area, despite the fact that meeting daily needs is easy. River Oaks is also not very cycling-friendly since the terrain is not especially flat, and the bicycling infrastructure is not very well-developed.

Services

Some, but not all, house buyers in this part of Oakville will reside within walking distance of the closest grocery store. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. In terms of education, it is a reasonably short walk to get to daycares and schools from most properties for sale in this neighbourhood.

Character

River Oaks is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. The noise levels in this part of the town are quite low, as the streets are tranquil. Lastly, there are around 40 parks close by for residents to enjoy, such as Memorial Park and Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, resulting in them being very easy to reach from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood.

Housing

In River Oaks, around 45% of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses. This part of the town offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 80% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and renters occupy the remainder. Around 40% of homes in this part of Oakville were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s.
