Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Glenorchy is a neighbourhood within Oakville, Ontario.


Glenorchy is very car friendly. It is very convenient to find a place to park, and the majority of properties for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 407. In contrast, Glenorchy is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly close by. This area is not very convenient for walking because meeting day-to-day needs is occasionally difficult on foot. Glenorchy is also not very suited for cycling since there are a fair number of elevation changes, and there are very few bike lanes.


Primary schools are easy to access on foot from anywhere in this part of the town. In contrast, there are no high schools in Glenorchy. In terms of food, some, but not all, house buyers in Glenorchy will reside within walking distance of the nearest supermarket. A limited number of restaurants and cafes are available as well.


The character of Glenorchy is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. This area is quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case around Highway 407. Lastly, it is easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood, since the majority of properties have one a short walk away. There are around 10 public green spaces close by for residents to visit, including Neyagawa Woods and Preserve Woods.


About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the remainder are renters. The predominant housing types in this part of Oakville are single detached homes and row houses. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has occurred after the year 2000. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this neighbourhood.
