The neighbourhood of Ford is part of the town of Milton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

The favoured approach to move around in this neighbourhood is very often driving. It is especially convenient to come across a place to park. In contrast, the public transit system in this area is quite bad. Nonetheless, house owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes. This part of the town is not very well-suited for walking since very few common errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle. Ford is also not very amenable to cycling since there are a good number of slopes for cyclists to brave, and there are very few bike lanes.

Some, but not all, home buyers in Ford will reside within walking distance of the closest grocery store. There are a few opportunities for those who appreciate close by restaurants. As far as education is concerned, in Ford, parents and their schoolchildren will commonly be able to access primary schools on foot. However, there are only a limited number of high schools and thus they can be a long walk away.

Ford is reasonably quiet, as the streets are usually quite calm. Green spaces aren't well-spread out, resulting in them being occasionally challenging to get to from the majority of locations within this part of the town. Despite that, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

The large proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Ford is an important part of its character. The buildings in this neighbourhood are relatively new, because about 45% of its dwellings were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this area. About 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder.
