A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are quite convenient for those who travel by foot; carrying out daily needs is easy by walking. In contrast, the bike is a rather poor method of transportation in Cedar Wood because there are few bike lanes, and cyclists encounter a significant amount of slopes. This neighbourhood is an extraordinarily good part of Markham for travelling by car. Nearby highways are reasonably easy to reach from any home in Cedar Wood, and it is straightforward to park. On the other hand, commuting by public transit is at times challenging in Cedar Wood. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most houses.


Daycares and primary schools are convenient to get to on foot from anywhere in Cedar Wood. However, there are no high schools in Cedar Wood. As far as eating is concerned, it is very easy to get to the nearest grocery store on foot in this area. Residents of this neighbourhood are served by around 10 restaurants as well. The noise levels in this part of Markham are reasonably low, as the streets are quite calm - although that is not the case near one of the railway lines. Finally, although Cedar Wood is not home to any green spaces, parks are very well-distributed in nearby neighbourhoods, which results in them being very easy to reach from the majority of locations within this area.


Nearly 90% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. In this area, many buildings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly townhouses. This neighbourhood experienced its main construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available housing stock is from this era. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
