Located within the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area, Country Hills East is a neighbourhood in Kitchener, Ontario.

Transportation

Country Hills East is an extraordinarily good part of Kitchener for driving. Parking is generally easy, and most properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway. In contrast, travelling by transit can be at times challenging in Country Hills East by reason of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, rapid transit stations, including Block Line Station with access to the ION Light Rail, are typically a short distance away from the majority of residences in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly very close by. Traveling by foot in this neighbourhood is not very common, even though most daily needs are convenient to meet without a car. On the other hand, commuting by bicycle is easy in Country Hills East since the cycling network is reasonably good.

Services

It is easy to get to the closest grocery store without the need for a car in Country Hills East. Additionally, this part of Kitchener is a fairly good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe. As far as education is concerned, in Country Hills East, families will usually be able to get to schools and daycares by foot.

Character

One of the highlights of Country Hills East is its very good selection of green spaces. There are about 20 parks close by for residents to visit, such as Peter Hallman Ball Yard and Balzer Greenway Natural Area, and they are especially well-spread out, which makes them very easy to reach. This part of the city remains relatively quiet, as there are few pedestrians, although noise levels are higher closer to one of the railway lines.

Housing

In Country Hills East, most dwellings are large apartment buildings, while single detached homes are the main alternative in the housing stock. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas owners occupy the remainder. Most of the houses available in the housing market in this neighbourhood were built following the year 2000, when a large proportion of the housing growth took place.
