Situated within the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Dundurn is a neighbourhood in Hamilton, Ontario.


The preferred transportation option in this area is very often a car. It is especially convenient to park, and the city block layout is very conducive to getting around by car. However, the public transit network in this part of Hamilton is sometimes poor. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most houses. Despite the fact that the bicycling infrastructure is good, Dundurn is not particularly cycling-friendly because riding a bike is rendered difficult by the often steep terrain. There are also relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this area, even though many daily needs can be met without having to resort to a vehicle.


It is rarely possible for home buyers in Dundurn to purchase groceries by walking. Conversely, this neighbourhood is a good place in which to go out to eat. With regards to education, in this part of Hamilton, parents and their children will generally be able to reach primary schools on foot. However, Dundurn does not have any high schools.


One of the highlights of Dundurn is its great variety of green spaces. Parks are very well-situated and there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in, making it very easy to get to them. Lastly, this neighbourhood is an excellent area for those who aren't bothered by a bit of noise, since traffic during busier hours of the day can occasionally be bothersome, and there can also be much noise from businesses.


In Dundurn, about 55% of buildings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses. This neighbourhood also has a good variety of unit sizes - it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even. This part of Hamilton experienced its main building boom pre-1960, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period.
