Hornby

Situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Hornby is a neighbourhood within Halton Hills, Ontario.

Transportation

Travelling by car is very convenient in Hornby. The street layout is fairly conducive to cars, and it is very easy to park. On the other hand, travelling by transit can be difficult in Hornby due to the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. Hornby is not very conducive to biking because this part of the town is home to rather limited bicycling infrastructure. Nevertheless, there are a limited number of slopes, and cycling is more feasible in certain pockets than others. Walking is not very popular in Hornby, although most daily needs are easy to meet without a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of Halton Hills. Moreover, families may find it difficult to reach daycares by walking. As far as eating is concerned, in all but a few cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries. Nonetheless, pharmacies are typically very easy to get to by foot and sell some basic food items. There are also about 20 restaurants and cafes in Hornby.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Hornby. Parks are easy to reach since there are around 10 of them close by for residents to discover. This part of Halton Hills is an excellent area for those who aren't bothered by some noise, as during rush hour, traffic can occasionally be bothersome.

Housing

Roughly 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Roughly one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
