York Mills

York Mills is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This area presents house buyers with the choice between a diversity of methods of transportation. Owing to various nearby rapid transit stations on the Line 4 (Sheppard), and about 10 nearby bus lines, residents can depend on public transit to navigate this part of Toronto. A majority of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are also reasonably conducive to people who travel on foot; many daily needs are easy to meet without needing to resort to a car, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. York Mills is not very amenable to biking since there are a good number of hills for cyclists to brave, and the cycling network is rather poor. Thankfully, a few bike-friendly pockets exist.

Services

It is convenient to get to the nearest supermarket without a car from any location in York Mills. In addition, there are a fair number of choices in close proximity for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes. It is also a rather short walk to a good variety of clothing stores. With respect to education, families will welcome that wherever their house is situated in York Mills, schools and daycares are close by.

Character

York Mills offers a broad selection of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy atmosphere. To be more specific, many locations within the neighbourhood have fairly good access to green spaces, like East Don Parkland and St. Andrew’s Park, since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to enjoy. Finally, thanks to the presence of few pedestrians, this part of the city is relatively quiet, although those who are around the railway line or Highway 401 may experience more noise.

Housing

In York Mills, the majority of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly large apartment buildings. This area has a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the remainder are renters. Most housing in this neighbourhood was constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, during its largest construction boom.
