The neighbourhood of Victoria Square is part of the city of Markham, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is very car friendly. It is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 404, from anywhere in Victoria Square, and it is especially convenient to park. However, the public transit access in this area is not very accessible. Nonetheless, property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most residences. Victoria Square is not very conducive to those who like to travel on foot since most daily needs are inconvenient to meet without a vehicle. In contrast, commuting by bicycle is convenient in Victoria Square because there are a fair number of bike lanes, and there are few elevation changes to challenge cyclists.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are straightforward to reach as a pedestrian from anywhere in this part of Markham. However, this neighbourhood does not have any high schools. With respect to eating, it is rarely an option for home buyers in this part of Markham to buy groceries by walking. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes within walking distance.

Character

The character of Victoria Square is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. It is easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to visit. This area is also fairly good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially close to Highway 404.

Housing

In Victoria Square, roughly 40% of buildings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly townhouses. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this neighbourhood. Around 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas renters occupy the remainder. Most homes in this area were built following the year 2000, during its most significant construction boom.
