The neighbourhood of Glen Abbey is part of the town of Oakville, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.
Transportation
The preferred method to navigate Glen Abbey is very often a car. Parking is easy, and most houses for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Queen Elizabeth Way. In contrast, Glen Abbey is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there is the Bronte with access to the Lakeshore West. Homeowners benefit from about 10 bus lines, and it is very easy to find a nearby bus stop from most residences. Glen Abbey is cycling-friendly as the bicycling network is fairly extensive. Traveling on foot is not especially convenient for house buyers in this part of Oakville because few common errands can be run without a car.
Services
It is difficult to reach the nearest supermarket on foot in this neighbourhood. Furthermore, Glen Abbey is a good place in which to go out to eat, and residents are served by about 10 cafes as well. Regarding education, daycares and schools are very easy to reach by foot from most houses for sale in this part of the town.
Character
The character of Glen Abbey is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. The majority of locations in the neighbourhood have fairly good access to parks, like Bronte Creek Provincial Park and Day Use Leash Free area, since a large number of homes have one very close by and there are over 50 public green spaces nearby for residents to explore. The noise levels in this part of the town are also low, as the streets are usually tranquil.
Housing
Around 55% of the properties in Glen Abbey were constructed in the 1980s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1990s and the 2000s. In this neighbourhood, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. Homeowners occupy around 85% of the properties in Glen Abbey and 15% are rented. This part of Oakville is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
