The neighbourhood of East Willowdale can be found in the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

No matter the mode of transportation, it is reasonably straightforward to get around in this neighbourhood. With a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Line 1 (Yonge-University), Line 4 (Sheppard) and Viva Blue, and approximately 40 nearby bus lines, East Willowdale is very transit friendly. It is also easy for pedestrians to get around in East Willowdale; many common errands can be run without a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. East Willowdale is reasonably bicycling-friendly because the cycling infrastructure is moderately extensive.

Services

Schools and daycares are very easy to access without a car from anywhere in East Willowdale. With respect to eating, it is usually possible for property owners in this area to do their groceries as pedestrians. Likewise, there are over 100 restaurants and around 30 cafes to experience in East Willowdale. It is also a short walk to a very good choice of clothing stores.

Character

East Willowdale is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this neighbourhood. Although the ambience is not the most lively in this area, its main streets are still quite dynamic, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located a short walk away. Most areas in East Willowdale are very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Greenery is very prominent in this neighbourhood as the tree canopy coverage for most streets is very good. There are over 50 public green spaces nearby for residents to relax in, like Bayview Village Park, and they are especially well-located, making it very easy to access them.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in East Willowdale, while large apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. About one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of Toronto has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 30% are renters.
