Nelles is especially car friendly. It is very easy to park, and it is a short car ride to the nearest highway from anywhere in this part of Grimsby. The bicycle is a rather limited mode of transportation in this neighbourhood because the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and cyclists encounter quite a few hills. Regarding education, families will welcome that no matter where their home is located in this part of Grimsby, primary schools and daycares are close by. However, there are no high schools in Nelles.

Nelles is fairly good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case around the railway line. Green spaces aren't well-distributed, making it very hard to access them from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood.

Homeowners occupy about 80% of the units in the neighbourhood and 20% are rented. In this part of Grimsby, around two thirds of buildings are single detached homes, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. The homes in this neighbourhood are quite old, since around 40% of its dwellings were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area has a good selection of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
